Since defeating Park Crossing in an area contest on September 20, the Prattville Lady Lions Flag Football team has posted an impressive trio of victories, winning games against Valley, Auburn, and Opelika.

On September 21, the Lions traveled to Valley and dominated the Rams, winning 60-8. Quarterback Hartley Mccay accounted for 6 total touchdowns in the victory. McCay had 100 yards passing and 3 passing touchdowns. She also added 70 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns on the ground.

On Tuesday, September 26, Prattville traveled to Catholic High in Montgomery and took on Auburn High and Catholic. Although the Lions lost a defensive battle to the host Knights, 12-0, Prattville pulled out a 19-14 victory over the Auburn High Tigers, the 2022 Class 7A state champion in flag football. Kaytie Chandler passed for a touchdown and rushed for another, while Hartley Mccay also passed for a touchdown. Mady Cate Lindsey and London Williams both had a receiving touchdown, while Kaylee Robles added an interception on defense.

A couple days later, the Lions hosted the Opelika Bulldogs in a defensive struggle, with the only points of the game coming off two Prattville interceptions returned for touchdowns. London Williams had a 61-yard pick six, and Laniya Page had an 80-yard pick six to seal the win for Prattville. Emma Kate Gunn also had two interceptions defensively for the Lions. With the win, the Lions’ record improved to an impressive 8-3 in the school’s first ever flag football season.

Head Coach Brian Pittman was proud of the team’s effort and accomplishments. “We had a really good week, playing against some top competition. I was very proud of the way our girls fought and executed this week. Still got things to get better at but I like where we are at right now.”
