FROM THE DAY OF DREAMS TELETHON
Montgomery, AL – Pastor Ken Austin, Executive Director of Mercy House/MAP announced that the 3rd Annual Day of Dreams Telethon will take place Tuesday, October 3, from 6:00 am to 6:30 pm to help the Mercy House and MAP Center (Ministry About People) continue to make dreams come true for the least among us.
Mercy House/MAP’s mission is to provide holistic services and essential life skills to underprivileged individuals, so they are prepared to achieve self-reliance for themselves and their families. We are ending the food line. Mercy House celebrates 5 years in ministry on October 3rd. Through love and mercy, we are redirecting lives in Montgomery. We have served over 300,000 hot meals since 2018. Thousands of families experiencing hunger and poverty have received emergency groceries from our food pantry. Through the MAP Youth Navigation Program, we have continued to provide hundreds of youths a safe place to play and learn throughout each summer. We provide Homework Help, Tutoring, and a Strong Enrichment After School Program in a Faith-Based Environment. Through our Care Coordinator Program, we have served and met the needs of over 200,000 of our neighbors in our first five years. The Mercy House is a Day House providing showers, hygiene needs, a clothes closet, and more. For over 20 years, we have been consistently serving the least of our neighbors in Montgomery. Today, the MAP Youth Navigation Center serves 200 students. Each day, we pick up from 10 different schools and take each child home afterward. We serve children from K-5 through High School, many of whom would have no other tutoring option or program to join. Updates will be posted throughout the day on our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/mercyhousemgm/.
“With your support, we will continue to provide over 200 children daily with excellent professional teachers, the best curriculum with supplies, and a strong, nurturing learning environment. We don’t stop with the children. Our adult education program is equipping parents with great opportunities to provide for themselves and their families. Through the many arms of this ministry, thousands of people’s basic needs are met each week. The Youth HUB will also provide a safe environment 7 days per week for teens to enjoy while being off the streets and in the presence of mentors,” said Pastor Ken Austin. “Our success is built on a foundation of prayer, hard work, and community partnerships and support.” MAP recognizes that strong communities are built from within first and then by partnering with like-minded people to give of their time, talents, and resources.
The needs are many! The cost to do this work still doesn’t cost anywhere near as much as it costs not to do it.
Come partner with us to do this great work. Choose to be a part of the Day of Dreams Miracle! You can be a partner with us in making dreams come true. Please challenge all your family and friends to tune in on October 3rd and give generously.
