Final Update: Clifford Eugene Sheppard, 44, is now in custody and faces multiple counts of felony animal cruelty, among other charges.
UPDATE: Per Sheriff Harrell, at least one person has been arrested so far, but the investigation continues on scene.
Autauga County Sheriff Mark Harrell tells the EAN that his deputies have busted a large dog fighting ring on Vernon Sheppard Road in Plantersville. Deputies are on scene investigating now, and Sheriff Harrell said they are expected to be out there for most of the day.

For now, Harrell said it appears to be about 30 dogs, mostly pit bulls. However, there are other dogs like a German Shepherd and some hound dogs. Deputies are working to find places to take the dogs that have been discovered.
