ELMORE COUNTY – On Thursday the Elmore County Child Nutrition Hot Spot food truck made its way to the Millbrook Public library and served FREE lunch for children 18 and younger. The Hot Spot Food Truck has partnered with Millbrook and Wetumpka Public Libraries to provide free meals for kids for the month of June.
Adult meals are available and can be purchased for seven dollars. Over 100 children and 12 adults were able to enjoy some delicious grilled hamburgers, or hotdogs along with chips, fruit, and milk. The Hot Spot served lunch from 10:30 a.m. until Noon at Village Green Park in front of the library. An added treat that children or adults can purchase on-site is ice cream. They will have popsicles, sandwiches, fudge bars, and a crumble cookie cone for one dollar each. Meals can be served while supplies last.
“We are excited to partner with Millbrook Library and provide free meals to the kids over the summer,” said Calli Wright, Mobile Kitchen Manager for the Hot Spot. She continued, “We are also hoping this will encourage families to come out for a fun experience while getting a delicious meal. The look on the kids’ faces and the excitement we witnessed was worth every minute that was put into making this event happen. I hope that as the word spreads that more families will come and visit us over the summer.”
Children can enjoy the food truck experience in Wetumpka on Wednesdays, and on Thursdays in Millbrook. Burgers and Hot Dogs will be served on June 21, and 22nd. Brisket Tacos and Hot Dogs will be served on June 7th, 8th, 28th, 29th. Ribs and Hot Dogs will be served on June 14th and 15th.
