Newly Passed Senate Bill 113 Press Conference coming Thursday

FROM FREEDOM MEDIA

Montgomery, AL – A press conference will be held tomorrow to discuss the newly passed Senate Bill 113, also known as the Harold Sachs and Anne Roberts law. The event will take place at the Alabama State House in the third-floor press room at 10:00 AM. It will feature Senators Garlan Gudger, Dan Roberts, and Representative Debbie Wood, who sponsored and carried the bill in the Alabama Senate and House, respectively. The event will also include Emee Baldwin, the founder of PoppysPurpose.org.

This law, which was inspired by Harold Sachs’ passing from Covid complications in 2020, aims to ensure that loved ones who are sick from an illness are not denied visits from a family member and do not pass away alone. Harold was the Grandfather of founder Emee Baldwin. Senator Robert’s wife, Anne, passed away in 2022, and he was not allowed into the hospital room. Representative Debbie Wood lost her mother during the covid pandemic and was not allowed to visit her before she passed away. This bill would protect a patients right to have a family member present.

Governor Kay Ivey is expected to sign the bill into law on Thursday morning at the state capitol.

The event will be live-streamed on the Poppy’s Purpose Facebook page, and members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event.
