Edgewood Academy Junior Lindsey Brown is a three-sport athlete that already has the most state championship rings of any female athlete in the history of the Wildcats program….and she still has another year to add to it.

When the clock hit zero in the AISA Class 2A basketball championship game in February 2023, Brown added an unbelievable 8th state championship ring to her list of high school accomplishments at Edgewood Academy. The 2023 basketball season capped a perfect season, and the second consecutive AISA 2A state basketball title for the Wildcats. Brown also won the State Tournament Most Valuable Player award both years to go along with being named to the AISA All-State Basketball 1st team in 2021, 2022, and 2023.

Brown earned a ring in 2019 with the Edgewood softball team and has been named All-State 1st team in softball numerous years as well. Asked for her most memorable high school moment, Brown said, “Hitting a three-run home run in softball against Abbeville to win 3-2 my junior year.”

Even with those impressive accomplishments, Brown’s future lies in another sport: volleyball. The rising senior is committed to continue her athletic career with the University of Alabama’s volleyball team. Brown and the Edgewood volleyball team have won four consecutive AISA state championships, and she will be looking to make it an unprecedented fifth year in a row as a senior.  For the last two state volleyball titles in 2021 and 2022, Brown was the Varsity State Tournament MVP.

In 2022, Brown went to a volleyball camp at the University of Florida and won the Florida Gators Camp Coach Award. But it wasn’t the Gators that earned Brown’s commitment. That went to University of Alabama Volleyball Head Coach Rashinda Brown. “I chose Bama because of their desire to strive to be better every day and work towards big goals and they treated me like family.” Brown plans to sign with the Tide in the fall of this year.

She already has some goals set for her time at Alabama. “I want to help Alabama volleyball with becoming a better program each season and make it to the NCAA tournament and also win the SEC one day.”

Before that day comes, Brown still has her senior year ahead of her.  She could likely add to her list of championships, and her focus is on enjoying her last year in high school. “My goals for my senior year are to have fun and enjoy every last moment while preparing myself for college.”

Brown has enjoyed her time at Edgewood. “The family and the culture within the school and the amazing support I receive are what I appreciate most about Edgewood.”

She already knows in what profession she wants a career. “I want to be able to make a difference in the ‘big world’ and become a physical therapist and work with athletes.”

A tally of Brown’s accomplishments through her junior year include five state championships in volleyball, two state championships in basketball, one state championship in softball, and MVP of the AISA State Volleyball and Basketball tournaments in 2021 and 2022.  Based on her impact and accomplishments at Edgewood, it is only a matter of time before Brown makes her impact in the “big world.”
