The Millbrook Middle School band and Stanhope Elmore Music department will host their joint Spring Concert Thursday April 27 6:30p in the SE “Big” gym. Admission is free.
The Millbrook Middle School band program will have performances by their 6th grade beginning band and their 5th & 6th period band. We are very proud of our 5th & 6th period band for earning ALL SUPERIOR ratings at Music Performance Assessment in Alex City on March 1st.
The Millbrook Middle School Bands will each perform four songs including the world premiere of Evergreen Tree March written by band director Will Boartfield. The 5th and 6th period band will also feature former, and now retired SE band director Harold Blankenship as a guest conductor.
The Stanhope Elmore Music Department will have performances by the SE Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble, and Choir. The Stanhope Elmore Concert band will include 3rd and 4th grade students from ARIS while they are performing along with the band during the famous jazz piece.
All three music teachers in the Millbrook community, Melissa Galanopoulos music teacher at CES & ARIS, Will Boartfield Band Dir. at MMS, and Wesley Morris band/choir Dir. at SEHS took part in planning, teaching, and or writing the music so that we could give the 3rd/4th graders this experience and help them figure out that band is FUN.
