The “Land of Good Living” got a little better with a ribbon cutting Wednesday for the newly constructed Autaugaville Senior Center. The new center includes a large meeting room/sitting area, modern kitchen and bathrooms and a screened porch area.

Gov. Kay Ivey, through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, provided a $250,000 grant for the building in the town whose motto is “Land of Good Living.” Among the participants in the programs is 95-year-old Louisa Williams Lore. She is excited about the new building and looking forward to making great memories with friends.

The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Autaugaville joined local officials, community individuals, and representatives from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA), the Alabama Department of Senior Services (ADSS), and the Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission (CARPDC) for the celebration. This facility is located at 2407 Dutch Bend Street in Autaugaville.

An invocation was offered by Pastor Richard Lucas, followed by a warm welcome from Mayor Curtis Stoudemire.

Remarks were also made by Kenneth Boswell, Director of ADECA; Greg Clark, Executive Director of Central Alabama Regional Planning and Development, and Jay Thompson, Chairman of the Autauga County Commission.

It was a long time coming for this celebration, but it brings a tremendous amount of excitement to the community. The center will be a place for gathering, socializing, education, activities and so much more. Thank you to all who made this day very special for the community. May this building serve a wonderful purpose for many generations to come.
