Autaugaville Methodist Church

207 S. Autauga Street, Autaugaville, AL 36003

In December 1818, the South Carolina Methodist Conference authorized a circuit along the Alabama River. In 1822, the church was organized and the Autaugaville Asberry Episcopal Church was founded. Sunday School was organized in 1825. The present church was built around 1835. It was moved to the current location in 1850 on land donated by Col. Pickett. It was moved by placing it on logs and pulled by oxen.

In the late 1950s the inside of sanctuary was redone with new pews, air conditioning and heating. Over time an educational building and fellowship have also been added. For more information in the church, visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/autaugavilleumc

Mulberry Schoolhouse

109 CR9 N, Autaugaville, AL 36003

Renovations have been conducted on this schoolhouse for the past couple of years thanks to the Old Autauga Historical Society, donations and volunteers.

Mulberry Schoolhouse served as a school for black children in Autauga County. It is the last remaining one-room schoolhouse to do so in the county. It was built around 1900 and is located between Autaugaville and Statesville on CR9 at Mallards Chapel.

More work is planned during Phase III, and includes a new ceiling. Donations are encouraged to keep the work going.
