The library club at Airport Road Intermediate School sponsored a service project during the month of January. The purpose of the project was to gather supplies needed to make Valentine gift baskets for women and men for the assisted living facilities. Members of the library club went around every Friday to gather the donations in each classroom. Students, teachers and also parents donated supplies that included magazines, small packs of tissues, lip balm, crossword puzzles, socks, hand lotions, and pens.

At the February 9th monthly meeting, the library club members made a total of 30 baskets that went to assisted living residents at Premiere Place in Millbrook, The Gables in Millbrook, and Merry Wood Lodge in Elmore.

On February 14th Club sponsors Debbie Jones and Breannan Dunkerson, along with library friends, assisted with dropping off the baskets to the three homes for the residents.

“Last year we only could give out enough baskets to two facilities,” said Debbie Jones, Media Specialist at Airport Road Intermediate School.

Jones continued, “We had enough baskets for three facilities this year. We are hoping for more next year. I am very pleased with the amount of participation this year.”
