Area Cheerleading groups Headed to Orlando to compete at UCA National High School Competition

From Alex Golson

Executive Assistant to Justice Kelli Wise

Alabama Supreme Court

This weekend, several local school cheer teams will head to Orlando to compete at UCA National High School Cheerleading Competition in Orlando, FL, some for the first time.

Floyd Middle Magnet School is set to make their first ever appearance in school history at nationals. It’s an opportunity they’re excited about, and one they plan to take full advantage of. All of these teams have had to go through regionals to qualify for Nationals in Orlando.

Some of the other local teams competing will be Pike Road Jr. High and Varsity, Prattville Christian Academy, Wetumpka High School Varsity and Elmore County High School Varsity. It’s a great deal to these schools and programs and they have put in countless hours of practice and fundraising to make it happen. I personally would hate for this many of our local students and athletes to travel to the Sunshine State to compete and for it to go unnoticed.

  • For more than 40 years, the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship has been the culmination of the season for cheerleaders across the nation. It’s the most prestigious high school national championship in the country and the perfect opportunity for cheerleading teams to get together and celebrate each other at the Most Magical Place on Earth, the Walt Disney World Resort.
  • The UCA NHSCC is the only high school cheerleading championship endorsed by the NFHS, reflecting the values we share and the high standards we have developed for our camp curriculum, regional qualifiers and the NHSCC.
