A Millbrook man identified as David Long, 63, was arrested Thursday night and charged with Arson second-degree related to a house fire in the 1400 block of Davis Drive in Millbrook.
Investigators with the Millbrook Fire Department and Millbrook Police Department were still on scene a short time ago.
According to officials, the residents of the home have had an ongoing dispute with the suspect, and had filed charges Wednesday against him for criminal mischief which was prior to the fire Thursday. He has not been booked on that charge as of this report.
That charge relates to a reported criminal mischief incident at the same home on Wednesday, where several windows were broken. The residents had reported the issue to the Millbrook Police and once warrants are signed, Long could face additional charges.
The residents had placed garbage bags over the windows until they could be repaired.
Allegedly, Long returned Thursday around 9 p.m. and reportedly ignited the garbage bags. That started a fire with the blinds in the windows and filled the home with smoke. Otherwise, there was minimal damage to the home.
Millbrook Fire Department was quickly on scene, and the fire was out. There were no reported injuries.
The residents of the home arrived just after the fire was started and were able to give officers a vehicle description, and possible identity of the suspect.
A short time later a Millbrook officer located a white van which was described as leaving the scene. Long was taken into custody without incident.
Long was booked into the Elmore County Jail and a bond amount was not immediately available.
