Selma Native Ben Brooks to Perform at Charity Event Friday for Blackbelt Benefit Group

FROM BEN BROOKS

SELMA NATIVE AND MUSICIAN

I’m a singer/songwriter out of Nashville but, I grew up in Selma and started playing music in the surrounding area. I am playing a charity event in Selma on Friday for the Blackbelt Benefit Group. I’m trying to raise awareness for the event and would love it if you could help. I know it’s super late notice but, anything you could do would be great. I attached a press release and included it below for convenience. Thank you very much and Merry Christmas!

Revitalizing the Blackbelt through Food, Music, and Art

What was born from a love of place and hometown pride has grown into a nonprofit that has the ultimate goal of an energetic, revitalized Blackbelt that all people are proud to call home. Blackbelt Benefit Group began in 2009 when a group of friends held a Riboff to benefit the victims of a recent tornado. Since that time, we have used that can-do spirit to continue to make a positive mark on the place Blackbelt Benefit Group is so proud to call home.

“Blackbelt Benefit Group is such a great organization and does so many positive things for the City of Selma, I’m just proud to be a part of one of their events.” said Ben Brooks.

About Ben Brooks

Growing up in Selma, AL, Ben Brooks has played in various bands since a young age.  The most significant of these was The Big Nekkid, formed with his fellow Morgan Academy classmates, Roger Jones, Will Sommerville and Morgan Duncan. After playing throughout the Southeast and releasing an album, the band disbanded.  Ben made the move to Nashville, TN, where he has established himself as an independent singer / songwriter and released an album called Jean on Jean.  Brooks will be performing material from this album and introducing the audience to a variety of new singles.  One of which is a song entitled “Long Hard Winter” that he will be releasing February 17th 2023.
