The Lady Panthers’ Sarah Williams Signs Faulkner University Letter of Intent to Play Collegiate Softball Close to Home

From PCA

Prattville Christian Academy proudly announces that Sarah Williams, one of the team’s three seniors, signed a Letter of Intent to continue her softball career collegiately with Faulkner University.

Williams, the Lady Panthers’ catcher, is a silent giant on the field. While she doesn’t talk much or rarely raises her voice, her stats and accolades speak loudly about her athletic gift and leadership abilities. Sarah is one of the most decorated student-athletes on campus, earning three state championship titles since 2018. As just a seventh grader starting on the varsity roster, she was critical in turning a 5-1 game against Gordo High School around giving the team the opportunity to advance in the 3A State Tournament, ultimately winning it all to capture PCA’s first state championship after joining the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

Also, during her junior season, Sarah only had six strikeouts in 160 plate appearances!

“Sarah is the type of kid that you would want your child to be like,” said Randy Stough, PCA’s head softball coach. “She has been a vital part of our softball program since the seventh grade and is such a great example of hard work paying off on the field and in the classroom.”

Since the 2018 championship season, Sarah has been instrumental in leading the Lady Panthers to the state tournament every year, finishing third in 2019, second in 2021, and fifth in 2022 (there was no post-season in 2020 due to COVID). Along the way, she has earned scores of softball awards, including being named the 2021 and 2022 Montgomery Advertiser All-Metro 3A Catcher, the 2021 and 2022 ASWA Class 3A All-State 1st Team Catcher, the 2022 Central Alabama Scoreboard’s Super Softball 22, PCA’s Heisman Scholarship Winner this year, and the 2021 Central Alabama Scoreboard 11 – leadership recognition for softball players in the local area. Her accomplishments don’t end with softball. Sarah is the textbook definition of a student-athlete. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and currently holds the highest class average in Honors Physics.

“Sarah has certainly led by example, often putting in the extra work to get better,” said Coach Stough. “I will miss her when she is gone, but I am proud of her and can’t wait to watch her chase her dreams. I believe she will be a huge asset to the Faulkner softball team.”
