A Main Street Christmas Experience coming to Downtown Prattville

From Barbara Simpson

Cultural Arts and Special Events

The City of Prattville is decorated in its holiday finest and ready to greet you and your family and friends at the 7th Annual A Main Street Christmas event on Tuesday, December 13, in the historic Downtown District from 5:00-7:30 p.m. We are excited to partner with the Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce and the merchants of downtown again this year for this fun, family-friendly event.

Santa will be visiting on Main Street at the Creekwalk Pocket Park and children can drop off letters to Santa in a special mail box near his sleigh. There will be special children’s activities sponsored by the Prattauga Art Guild and fun characters throughout the downtown area. Local dance troupes will entertain crowds in front of City Hall. There will be horse-drawn carriage rides again this year, but expect longer waits because rides will be limited. The Prattville Community Chorus will be caroling among the downtown shops singing everyone’s holiday favorites. The ice-skating rink will be open from 5:00-9:00 p.m. for adults and children 5 years old and older. Just $5.00 gets 30 minutes of skating and skates are furnished.

The Prattville Chamber of Commerce will give away a “Love What’s Local” basket filled with a variety of items donated by downtown merchants and cash! Get an entry for the prize with receipts from each different store that you visit.

Merchants in the Downtown District will be open late for your Christmas shopping needs. Some of the downtown eateries will be open and there will be food vendors at Heritage Park by the skating rink.

With all the beautiful lights and decorations, there will be lots of special holiday photo opportunities downtown that are perfect for your Christmas memories. Be sure to stop by the Musgrove Fountain, the Creekwalk Pocket Park, and skating rink for specially decorated areas for photos and look for the Giant Snow Globe for a truly unique family photo!
