The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce has a new keepsake Millbrook ornament now on sale that commemorates “A Millbrook Whoville Christmas.” They are $25 each, and supplies are limited.

Longtime residents will remember the huge oak trees that once lined Main Street. The ornament gives a nod to that memory.

The ornament was created by renowned pen & ink artist Melissa Tubbs of Montgomery.

Locations where the ornaments can be purchased are in the graphic at the bottom of this page.

. They will also be on sale the night of the Millbrook Tree Lighting, which will be held Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Village Green Park. Come out for live entertainment from various organizations including the SEHS and MMS Band, Frank Clem with special guests, choirs and dancing groups. The SEHS Diamond Club will have concessions available during the entire event as a fundraiser. And, the chance for SNOW is 100 percent.

Church members with The Gathering Place (formerly Destiny Church) will also be helping out with the Tree Lighting ceremony this year.

Remember to bring a can of food, or non-perishable food item, to donate in a collection box already in place in the park. All donations will be given to the WELCOME Food Pantry of Millbrook. You can donate now, as the box is located in the park near the stage.

On Parade Day, vendors will be set up in the Village Green Park with plenty of shopping and food truck opportunities! There will be live entertainment on stage. The parade rolls at 2 p.m. and this year’s participation is expected to be huge. After the parade, head back to the park for more shopping until 4 p.m.

This year’s Grand Marshal for the parade is Kathy Kelley, the longtime chairperson for the Spirit of Christmas Committee. She has announced this will be her last year on the committee. We appreciate everything she has done throughout the years to make Millbrook merry and bright and filled with the spirit of Christmas.

Area businesses on Main Street are encouraged to go all out with the Whoville theme for decorating. Prizes will be awarded.

There is still time to sign up as a vendor or have a float in the parade! Visit the City of Millbrook’s website at CityofMillbrook.org. Applications are available online at the website.
