MMS Recognize Military and their Families at Breakfast to say ‘Thank You’

Millbrook Middle School hosted a Veteran’s Day Breakfast for family members of their students who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. Over 25 families attended this event.

Guest Speakers included Rachel Surles from the Military Child Education Coalition. Katheryn Ganster and Robert Richert from the Maxwell AFB School Liaison Office, and Ruben Aguilar from the Military and Family Readiness Center.

Each speaker provided resources for the military connected families. Breakfast was provided by Millbrook Middle which consisted of Chik -fil-A biscuits, juice, and coffee.

April Emanuel, Assistant Principal for fifth through eighth grade, organized this event.

“I am so amazed how Millbrook Middle School recognized our Veterans today. I am so honored to have been asked to speak at this event,” said Rachel Surles.

“We are really excited to be part of the Purple Star Schools Program and do our part to support military families and new students to the Millbrook Community,” said April Emanuel.

“I want to thank the parents and all of the servicemen and women and the Veterans presently who have served on this holiday,” said Wendell Saxon, Elmore County Public Schools Board Member for District 2.

“I am excited to see the military parents that were able to participate in today’s breakfast at Millbrook Middle. They are an integral part of our community and beyond and we thank them for their service.  We hope to provide them as supportive educational program for their children,” said Richard Dennis, Superintendent of Elmore County Public Schools.
