On October 21st, the Millbrook Revelers organization invited ALL Millbrook city employees to have lunch at the Millbrook Civic Center. It was a way to say “Thank You” for all their help with the Mardi Gras Parade and for what they do for the city.

Over 170 lunch plates were made for the employees. Lunch began at 11:30 a.m. and employees could eat at the Civic Center or pick it up to go. Lunch consisted of barbecue chicken leg quarters, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw, dessert and a drink. Any plates and drinks that were not picked up at the Civic Center were dropped off at the Millbrook Police Department.

“I want to give a shout out and a huge Thank You to the fine folks with the Millbrook Revelers, who put on one of the finest Mardi Gras parades in our area, if not the entire State of Alabama. The Revelers fed all of the City of Millbrook’s employees lunch. Barbecued chicken, with all the fixings were on the menu and believe me, it was good,” Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson said. “I enjoyed both the food and fellowship greatly. As I often say, it is both an honor and a privilege to serve a community that supports its public servants. Thank you for the wonderful meal enjoyed by our employees today. I encourage everyone in our city to come out and enjoy our upcoming Mardi Gras Parade and Festival. which has become a major event on our city’s calendar each year. This is due to your members’ hard work and efforts. It’s a great family-friendly event enjoyed by all who attend. Again, thank you and have a Blessed weekend!”

Millbrook Revelers was formed in 2004 by six couples who wanted to bring a little bit of the Mardi Gras feeling to Millbrook, Alabama.  Over the last few years the organization has grown to over 70 couples. During the Mardi Gras season, the Revelers host a Mardi Gras Festival and Parade.
