Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce Hosts their Annual Women Who Mean Business Conference

On Wednesday The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce hosted their annual Women Who Mean Business Conference and Market at the Church at the Brook in Millbrook.

During the conference, the attendees would break out into different rooms to meet and ask questions to the four speakers. They would then head to the market to shop the different businesses that set up booths in the gym area.

The speakers this year included Annette Funderburk, President of Ingram State Technical College; Desirae Lewis Jackson, Elmore County Commissioner for District 5 and Owner of Lewis Law Firm, PC; Connie Bainbridge, Manager of Community and Economic Development of Central Alabama Electric Cooperative; and Dr. Joyce Loyd-Davis, President of Nurse Practitioner from Alliance of Alabama.

The market shop had 25 vendors and this vendor handed out free goodies and prizes while you shopped their booth.

Lunch was provided by Chance catering and you had your choice of chicken salad sandwiches on croissant or a wrap. There was also a delicious cake for the guest provided by Kingdom Dough.

The keynote speaker for the conference was Amanda Curran, a Meteorologist for WSFA.

“Whether you own your own business or not, you are your own brand,” said Amanda Curran; WSFA.

The guests also had a chance to win a fabulous door prize. Giveaways included a gift certificate from Jenilyn’s Creations, a basket of delights from Smith-Byrd House Bed & Breakfast and Tea Room, a basket of unique gifts from Main Street Vintage Market, a pair of Tiffany sunglasses, valued at $440, donated by River Region Vision Source, and a 5 night/4 day stay at the Marquee in New Orleans donated by Elmore/Autauga News.

A very special dedication was given to the MACC Businesswoman of the Year Award at the event. Rosalee Martin Wade was chosen and presented with this prestigious award. It was the first Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce businesswoman of the year award. Millbrook Women Who Mean Business Conference event was a day full of fun and very inspirational.
