On October 6th over 30 families of the Elmore County HIPPY program attended their first meeting of the year. A Car Seat and Fire Safety demonstration was held during the meeting at the Gold Star Park in Wetumpka, Alabama.

HIPPY stands for Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters. It is a FREE program from the Elmore County Public Schools. Children ages two, three, and four years old attended with their families for the educational meeting. Families were able to come out and have a picnic lunch with their family as well.

Kevin Daniels, with the Wetumpka Fire Department, has been a firefighter for many years. He spoke to the children and did an outstanding job explaining what could happen in case of a fire. “I would like to thank the Alabama Department of Public Health for coming out and talking about Car Seat safety. I would also like to thank the Wetumpka Fire Department for coming out and talking about the Fire Safety to our children,” said MaryAnn Forelle McCluskey, the Program Coordinator for the Elmore County HIPPY.
