Autauga County Commission Enjoys Relatively Quiet Meeting

At Tuesday night’s Autauga County Commission meeting, county leaders got together to do regular business as well as hearing from several residents about their concerns over the shape of Autauga’s roads, which has been a reoccurring theme.

After the consent docket was approved, commissioners approved the renewal of the USDA lease located in Autaugaville for another three-year term (12/1/2022 – 11/30/2025).

Joe Sedinger, Autauga County’s Sheriff, came per usual order before the leaders to hear as they approved Sheriff’s Office business, which included:

–Approval of Resolution #2022-29, to submit a funding request to the State of Alabama from the Emergency Prisoner Feeding Fund

–Approval to adjust the following budget line items:

$5,221.48 from 52100-551 to 191 (Sheriff)

$6,000.00 from 499 to 222 (Sheriff)

$400.00 from 52600-236 to 234 (Animal Control)

$40.00 from 52960-219 to 171 (SRO)

For Kathy Evans, Revenue Commissioner, the commission approved the resignation of Brittany Armstrong, Reappraisal Clerk, effective August 26, 2022 and advertise for a replacement.

For Rose Thomas-Williams, Rural Transportation Director, the approval of the rescinding of the hiring of Erica Burton, part-time Van Driver, and hire a replacement was also given the thumbs up. Also approved for that department was the hiring of Emma Mosley, part-time Van Driver, Grade 3: Step 1, effective 9/7/2022 to fill an open position as well as the approval to adjust the following budget line item:

$15.00 from 001-56900-264 to 252

For Tammy Jones, Chief Probation Officer, the group next approved the FY2023 diversion grant.

Several citizens also came forward to discuss issues relating to county roads and particularly, roads in disrepair near their own homes.

John Mark Davis, County Engineer, stood before the group as they approved the hire of Bradley Davis, Mechanic Apprentice, Grade 2: Step 1, effective 9/7/2022 (pending drug test/background check) to replace Clarence Freeman who resigned. Also approved was the CIMS license agreement for the period of October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2023.

After saying yes to the update and approval of Resolution #2022-30, Rules of Order, commissioners adjourned the meeting.
