Autauga County commissioners got together Tuesday night for a regular meeting in which they addressed multiple issues facing residents including the approval to hire new employees for the Metro Jail and also to allow 4-H to use the R.H. Kirkpatrick Arena for various activities.
After the leaders approved meeting minutes, invoices and the Consent Docket, a proclamation was given the nod that recognized the celebration of 85 years of service for the Montgomery Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Other items on the agenda included the adjustment of a budget line item for the Metro Jail in the amount of $3,417.86; the approval to hire Deliah Harris, Part-Time Jailer; the resignation of Jacorian Jackson; and the termination of Hillary Henderson, Full-Time Jailer.
The FY022 Department of Youth Services Detention Bed Contract was also addressed as well as the hiring of Erica Burton, Part-Time Van Driver, to replace Jacob McKee.
The FY2023 amendment for the Title III contract with the Central Alabama Aging Consortium was also renewed by commissioners.
Kacey Powell, Autauga County 4-H Extension Agent, approached the group to oversee the commission approval for 4-H to use the Kirkpatrick Arena for archery practice when the weather is not conducive to shooting outdoors and for a horse club event and for the commission to approve the waving of fees.
Jackie Speigner, a resident who regularly brings concerns to the commission, once again approached the group to ask for them to consider funding a Road 43 paving project.
County Engineer John Mark Davis stood before commissioners while they addressed the resignation of Patrick McGowin, Operator, and advertise for his replacement as well as the approval to hire Joseph Cox as an Operator. The Commission also approved the 2023 Rebuild Alabama County Transportation Plan.
The contracts between the county and Richard Abbott, Robert Johnson, Angela Young, David Bradley and Larry Harold Jr. as School Resource Officers (SRO) were also approved.
