When the USSSA World Series takes place in Gulfport, Mississippi the City of Millbrook will have two teams playing for it all. The Millbrook Mustangs 12U team, which will be one of the participants, held a fundraiser on Monday to raise money for the upcoming trip.
Smokehouse Pit BBQ offered spaghetti, salad, and bread for supporters that had purchased a ticket from the team, and in addition, they also had a spot set aside for additional donations.
“People were extremely generous and supportive, the city itself donated $1,000 to help us get down there, and it was amazing how many people were willing to support,” said Morgan Burke, who is one of the coaches for the team.
They breezed through the competition at the state championship tournament thanks to their talented players. “The kids we have are phenomenal, we’ve got five or six kids that can hit home runs on a 200 foot field,” Burke continued.
Thanks to everyone in the community for helping raise money for both teams, and good luck to the Millbrook Mustangs 9U and 12U baseball teams in the USSSA World Series!
