Gilbert “Mickey” Rogers
Mickey went to be with our Lord on July 7, 2022 at his residence in Elmore, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his father Gilbert Rogers.
He is survived by his only son, Gilbert Garrett (Jasmine) Rogers of Pompano Beach Fl , his mother Leah Thaggard Rogers of Prattville, Al, two brothers Ed (Marlene) Rogers of Wetumpka, Al, Joel (Gepetta) Rogers of Millbrook , Al and sister Jane Rogers Emerton of Prattville, Al. Two nieces, two nephews, two great nephews, two great nieces and one great-great niece. Numerous extended family members and a special brother-in-law Mike Emerton. He is survived by his wife, Starla.
He was born third son to Gilbert and Leah Rogers in Lowndesboro, Alabama. He graduated high school from Stanhope Elmore in Millbrook, Alabama in 1976. He held many jobs with many talents. He followed his father and brothers in the sand and gravel business and became known as one of the best loader operators. He was fondly known as “Booger Bear” to his truck drivers and friends.
Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of the birth of his son, Garrett in 1991. He cherished him and the amazing man Garrett has become.
Mickey never met a stranger and loved to talk to all of his friends and acquaintances. He always had a smile and was quick to help anyone in need.
There are many things his family loved about him and even though his life ended way to soon, he will never be forgotten and will forever be in our hearts.
