Details are limited at this time, but two men were arrested Saturday afternoon at an RV Park off Washington Ferry Road in Montgomery County. They were then reportedly transported to Autauga Metro Jail and both booked on a charge of Abuse of a Corpse. Bond amounts were not yet listed.

Edward Hiram Norman, 60, and James Michael Barrett, 52, are both on the jail log in custody as of this report.

Hiram was booked into the Metro jail at 12:25 a.m. this morning. Barrett was booked at 11:11 p.m. Saturday.

We have reached out to Autauga County Sheriff Joe Sedinger for any additional information that can be released at this time. It is possible this is related to the original missing person case for Britta Anne Lashley, 36.

On Friday it was released that Britta was no longer considered missing. Later that day the Autauga County Sheriff’s office released information that a female body had been found, and they were awaiting a positive identification from the Department of Forensics Science. They said they have reason to believe the body is that of Britta but at last report it had not been confirmed.

When the original missing person release came out in June of this year, Barrett’s photo accompanied the release, stating Britta was known to associate with him. He was not listed as a suspect at that time.

Britta was last seen in February of 2021 in Autauga County.

We will update with new information when it is available.
