The Tuesday night agenda for the Autauga County Commission included several measures that affected the Autauga County Sheriff’s Department and the Judge of Probate and also addressed the approval of a support letter for the historical Rosenwald School.
After the approval of the Consent Docket, the commission addressed three items for the Sheriff’s Department, represented by Sheriff Joe Sedinger, including—
–Approval to reject the bid for a four-door, 4X4 ½ ton pick-up truck for Animal Control and request permission to re-bid
–Approval to rescind the hire of Jeff Bert, Part-time Civil Process Server
–Approval to hire Zachary Weldon, Deputy Sheriff, Grade 6: Step 4 to replace Thomas Farris who resigned
For Kathy Evans, Revenue Commissioner, the following items were considered—
–Approve insolvents, errors and taxes in litigation for 2021 and uncollected for previous years
–Approve the resignation of Brittany Pool, Reappraisal Clerk I
For the Judge of Probate Kim Kervin, the following agenda measures were addressed—
–Approval to pay workers for tabulation and election night returns for the Primary Run-Off election
–Approval to pay workers for tabulation of provisional and overseas absentee results for the Primary Run-Off election
–Approval to move Maggie Butts from Full-Time License Clerk to Part-Time
For the Rural Transportation Department, the following items were listed—
–Approval to accept the resignation of Jacob McKee, Part-Time Van Driver and hire a replacement
–Approval to adopt the revised copy of the Title VI Program which also includes Resolution #2022-22
–Approve Certificate of Compliance
–Approve the agreement between the State of Alabama and Autauga County, Resolution #2022-23
Two items appeared on the agenda represented by EMA Director Ernie Baggett including—
–Approve reimbursement of Homeland Security Grant 21FIL to the City of Prattville in the amount of $19,861.41 (county will be reimbursed by ALEA for full amount)
–Approve future Homeland Security Grant application process
A support letter for the historical Rosenwald School, as part of a T-Mobile Hometown Grant application package was also brought up for commissioners to consider. The Rosenwald School is registered as a National and State Historic Site and a 501c3.
Four Autauga County residents were listed on the meeting’s agenda and spoke to the governing body about District 5 issues and the Lamar Estate.
John Paul O’Driscoll, Solid Waste Officer for the county, also brought the 2022 Alabama River Cleanup Report for commissioners to review during the meeting.
John Mark Davis, Autauga County Engineer, stood to represent the approval of the CE&I Contract between Autauga County and Sain Associates for Project #IAR-001-000-011, which regards Highway 31 turn lanes at CAEC.
There was also the approval to honor a longtime employee, David Rawlinson, and to approve his replacement (Clarence Freeman as Mechanic Apprentice I, Grade 2: Step 11).
The commission approved the nomination of a representative to the ACCA Legislative Committee as well as approving all resolutions and measures on the night’s agenda.
The group went into Executive Session at the end of the agenda and then when returning, adjourned the meeting.
