The end of the week had arrived, and with it came another edition of the Art Walk in downtown Wetumpka. Throughout the middle part of the year, artists have lined the streets to display and potentially sell their work. However, it was a little different this time as there were not as many artists set up in the area.
“We knew it was because of the heat,” said Marty Woodall, who creates oil and watercolor paintings. It had been brutally hot last week, and with no cloud cover, it created a difficult challenge for the artists who tried to brave the high temperatures.
Although this week was not as busy as previous weeks, the Wetumpka Art Walk still had a successful season. “When people were passing me last time, I was telling them you know, we’re only going to have one more art walk and they’re like ‘oh no they’re going to end it,” said Paula Susen, who was another one of the artists that sells hand painted wine bottles and more.
Despite a smaller number of artists last Friday, there was still a lot of outstanding artwork on display in the city.
The Wetumpka Art Walk will return next year, and there will be smaller events taking place in between now and the next season.
Thanks to everyone who came out and contributed to another successful season!
