If the crowd for the first Tunes on the Green concert series this season in Millbrook was any indication Thursday, this year will be a record breaking one.

Sitting in the shade of the trees at Village Green, the Blackbird Pickers entertained and had hands clapping and feet tapping. Nearby the Kid Zone was very popular as games and bubbles were available. Zeke’s Barbecue’s Food Truck had a steady line, giant fans helped cool a warm June afternoon and there were free boiled peanuts, courtesy of the City, for everyone to enjoy.

Guests seemed to enjoy themselves as Millbrook’s new Special Events Director Danae Morgan visited and made sure everyone was having a good time.

“I think this will just continue to get better, and we have some great music and events coming for the season,” Morgan said.

As kids played a game of catch, and old and young alike sang along, Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley had a big smile. “This is what we want,” he said. “We want people to get out and enjoy our parks, and the quality of life we have here in Millbrook.”

This is a FREE event, and if you missed Thursday’s, you have three more chances before this year’s season is over.

Thursday, June 16th will have a theme of “A little bit of Country.” . Brandon Elder will have a solo performance on stage and Zeke’s BBQ back with their food truck. There will be a homemade ice cream freeze off contest! Bring your entry in to be judged by 6 p.m. There will be trivia and giveaways as well as the Kids’ Zone.

July 7 – “A Little Bit of Americana” is the theme. Becky and Doyle Campbell will be on stage. There will also be a display of Hod Rod cars thanks to Max Complete Auto. Marty Bean and the Front Porch Grill will have the food truck. The city will offer FREE watermelon while it lasts.

July 21st – The theme is “Throwback Thursday.” H2O will be on stage. The West Elmore Area Lions Club will have a Duck Race beginning at 5:30 p.m. down Mill Creek with Prizes. (More details will be coming on that soon.) The food truck will be Fire Meets Wood. The city will offer FREE Popcorn while it lasts.

So, mark your calendars! Bring your coolers and your dancing shoes and make plans to enjoy the offerings for this season’s Tunes on the Green concert series in Millbrook at the Village Green Park.
