Summer sees many people moving from one place to another now that school is out.  Unfortunately, even recently here in Prattville, many people have fallen victim to the ongoing issue of rental scams.  These scams target potential renters by posting false ads of real or fake properties, leaving many victims out hundreds or even thousands of dollars after finding the home either already occupied or even non-existent, and no way of contacting the scammers back.  To help try to combat this fraud, there are several things potential renters can look for and do to hopefully detect this type of scam before it’s too late.  A simple Internet search on this topic will result in tons of articles online that list different tips and tricks, however we have listed many of the typical signs of this type of scam and what you can do to prevent being a victim.  Watch for the RED FLAGS!!!  🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩

If you find yourself a victim of this type of scam or see what appears to be a scam listing, report it to your local law enforcement and the FTC, as well as the website where the listing was posted.
