Autauga County: Juvenile in Custody After Social Media threat to ‘Schools’

UPDATE: From Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson – “The Prattville Police Department was made aware of a threat on social media toward the schools shortly before noon today. Within three hours, a juvenile suspect was identified and in custody. A Juvenile Petition has been signed for a terroristic threat, and the suspect is incarcerated in the Youth Detention Facility in Montgomery. The suspect will appear before a Judge within 72 hours after the petition is signed. There is no current threat or danger at this time. The Prattville Police Department appreciates the combined effort and assistance of the School Relations Unit, Criminal Intelligence Unit, FBI, and the Autauga County School Officials.”

Original post – Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson says that one juvenile suspect is in custody, with charges pending, after they allegedly made a threat on social media targeting schools. While no specific school was mentioned, Prattville Police worked received assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigations to locate a suspect and take them into custody quickly.

The threat surfaced just prior to noon today. No further details are immediately available but the EAN will update as soon as possible.

“We just want everyone to know that we do not believe there are any further issues at this point, and no further danger related to this incident,” Chief Thompson said.

Thompson said that as soon as law enforcement learned of the threat officers were on various campuses for security.
