Wednesday, members of the Marbury High School Choir sang the National Anthem prior to the Atlanta Braves baseball game, shining a positive light on the school’s music program. But it wasn’t the first time this year that the talented group has received national recognition.

Brett Johnson is the Band/Choir Director at Marbury High School, and said he is very proud of his students.

“We were selected to perform with the Atlanta Braves about a month or so ago,” Johnson said. “This is our third nationally televised performance of the year.”

Johnson said the school had to go through an approval process earlier this year. The choir sang the National Anthem at Talladega Super Speedway and before an Atlanta Hawks basketball game.

“We were very fortunate that after submitting both of those performance recordings to the Atlanta Braves that we were selected,” Johnson said.

Marbury High school Choir consist of about 50 voices that performed for the game.

“As their Director, I was so excited and thrilled for this amazing opportunity for our students and to showcase the wonderful things that are happening at Marbury High school!”

After the group’s performance, members were able to change out of uniforms and relax to watch the game, as well as enjoy some official stadium munchies. They then loaded back up for the trip home, but brought some great memories with them that will last a lifetime. Congratulations Marbury Choir. Well done! See more submitted photos below.
