On Tuesday, January 25th Coosada Elementary School celebrated their 100th day of school with fun and inspiring STEM activities in the classrooms. Throughout the day students rotated through stations around the school with 100-themed STEM challenges. Courtney Gagnon, Library Media Specialist for Coosada Elementary, spoke to EAN about the 100th day of school activities that students were involved in.

“Some examples students took part in included, stacking numbered cups 1-100, predicted what 100 Skittles would look like in a jar, built the number 100 with 100 Legos, etc. STEM challenges varied across grade levels. Each grade level has one activity that required data collection so students could have the opportunity to compare their results with other classes in the school. We were fortunate enough to also have visitors see our students in action. Several members of the Chamber of Commerce came to visit as well as several people from the Board of Education,” said Gagnon.

“We had an awesome STEM Day and 100th Day of School. Huge thank you to our visitors, that came to see the awesome things our students were doing. We thank everyone in their continued support of Coosada Elementary School,” said Heather Perdue, Computer Teacher and Technology Coordinator for Coosada Elementary.

Special visitors that were able to come out were, Ayena Jackson, Elmore County Director of Middle School Education, Dennis Taylor, River Region Vision Source, Jamie Brown, Max Federal Credit Union. Taylor and Brown are also members of the Millbrook Chamber of Commerce.
