Owning the Runway: ‘Super Kids,’ FBLA Team up for Fundraiser at SEHS Friday

On Friday, February 18th the FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) students organized a great fundraiser at Stanhope Elmore High School. The FBLA students were all dressed for success and invited our Super Kids to “Own the Runway” with them. Parents were invited and students could buy tickets for $5 to come watch and support the FBLA and Super Kids.

Emma Constant is the FBLA sponsor. Lisa Smith and Haley Barnes are the teachers for the Super Kids. Katie Stuart is the Special Education Department Chair for SEHS.

Constant approached SEHS Principal Ewell Fuller with the idea of the fundraiser and he loved it, saying he wanted this great event to happen for his students.

A total of 14 Super Kids owned the runway having a blast, smiling and embracing the day.

“It was so much fun! The Super Kids hammed it up and just showed out on the runway.  Their parents, teachers and fellow students were clapping and cheering for them and they felt so loved and so special!  It just made my day. We are so proud of our Super Kids, and of our SEHS kids that love and support them as well,” said Stuart.

The title of Super Kids was given to this group of kids at SEHS by the JROTC. That organization has “adopted” the class, throwing them special events throughout the year.

Undoubtedly, SEHS’ Biggest Cheerleader is Principal Ewell Fuller. As Principal Fuller says he has changed the way he looks at education and instead views his students and staff as family. In that family, everyone is included and loved.
