Three-Vehicle Crash in Lowndes County Claims life of Montgomery Man Monday

MONTGOMERY POST- A three-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:07 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, has claimed the life of a Montgomery man. Demontray O’Neal Likely, 23, was fatally injured when a 2006 Ford Ranger driven by Nicholas Angelo Mims, 56, of Pine Apple, collided into the rear of the 2007 Nissan Altima driven by Likely, who was stopped in traffic due to a crash that occurred earlier.

After the initial collision, Likely’s vehicle then collided with a 2004 Freightliner driven by Lawrence E. Johnson Jr., 65, of Port Allen, La., who was also stopped in traffic. Likely was not utilizing his seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Likely’s passenger, Donna Rowlette, 33, of Georgian, was transported to an area hospital for injuries. The crash occurred on Interstate 65, near the 157 mile marker in Lowndes County, approximately 15 miles south of Montgomery. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
