Juvenile in Custody after Shots Fired into Occupied Vehicle, Prattville Chief Says

Prattville Shooting: Suspected 17-Year-Old Shooter’s Bond set at $180,000

Prattville Police Chief Mark Thompson has released more information concerning a shooting on Brookhaven Drive in Prattville earlier today.

At approximately 1:35 p.m. the Prattville Police Department responded to a shot’s fired call on the 200 block of Brookhaven Drive. Prattville, AL. The suspect vehicle was stopped by Prattville Police Officers at Fairview Avenue and Brookhaven Drive. A 17-year-old male was detained.

According to the updated Alabama Confidentiality Law, the juvenile’s information will be withheld until, and if, they are convicted as an adult in a court of law.

After speaking with the suspect, Investigators discovered that the juvenile suspect fired approximately seven rounds at an occupied vehicle. Three rounds struck the vehicle, but no injuries had occurred to the driver or a child who was in the back seat of the vehicle.

One of the rounds struck a residence on Brookhaven Drive. Investigators spoke with several witnesses and obtained statements. The firearm was discovered with the suspect. The juvenile has been charged as an adult with the following charges:

•Two counts of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle.

•One count of Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Dwelling.

•One Count of Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Firearm.

The suspect is being held at the Autauga County Metro Jail. The total bond amount is $180,000.  This case is still under further investigation but we will update as possible.
