Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce Member in Focus- Legacy Seafood Market

Jeff Campbell is the owner and operator of Legacy Seafood Market in Millbrook, Alabama located at 179 Ashton Plaza Street. He previously worked at Allstate Beverage for two years, and before that he was Co-Manager at the Walmart in Prattville. The Prattville job is what brought him to Alabama. Campbell and his wife Sherry have been married for over 26 years. Sherry is a Professor at Auburn University at Montgomery where she teaches for the College of Education. They have two children together, T.J. Campbell III and Kaelyn Campbell.

Jeff Campbell’s father, Jeff Campbell Sr., was a Commercial Shrimper in the 1970’s in Thunderbolt, Georgia. As Campbell was growing up, he learned everything there was to know about seafood through his family. Campbell Sr., helped his son start up his business on November 4, 2020. His family is what inspired him to run his own seafood business in Millbrook.

“I wanted to bring a little of my family’s legacy into Millbrook and into our community. I wanted to share the way we cook things, by sharing our family recipes. I do my own breading, my own seasoning, and my own homemade sauces. These recipes are family-owned recipes that I have known for a long time and I incorporate these recipes at the market,” Campbell said.

“I chose Millbrook for my location because we live here. We live less than 4 miles from Legacy Seafood Market and its where we call home. I used to drive 25 miles round trip to Montgomery for seafood. Millbrook sits in a perfect location in my opinion, between Prattville and Wetumpka, just 20 minutes from Clanton, 15 minutes to Montgomery. I felt like I could help fill a need for other seafood lovers and bring my love of seafood to my community. We have had a great response so far, our menu continues to grow to cater to the growing  number of customers for what they want.”

“ I joined the Millbrook Chamber of Commerce because I feel its important to reach out to other businesses and owners to learn from, network, and help the community. I was involved in Kiwanis Club, and the Boys and Girls Club when I was a manager for Walmart. I felt a strong urge to help people and the more like-minded people you can surround yourself with the better opportunity you have to help people,” said Campbell.

“Chamber Director, Brenda Dennis, stops by and checks on me and my business. She sends me new customers, and also other chamber members come in regularly to pick up fresh seafood or meals. Our next goal is to have steady BBQ selections on the weekends and start catering as well,” Campbell said.

Legacy Seafood Market offers fresh seafood that includes oysters, scallops, crab claws, whole fish, fish fillets, large shrimp, and jumbo shrimp. They offer different plate options. The market also has a low country boil, a medium country boil, and a large country boil. The country boil consists of shrimp, Conecuh sausage, potatoes, and corn on the cob with seasoning either on the meal or on the side. They offer alligator pork sausage, a captain’s platter, fried green tomatoes, onion rings, and fried boudin balls. Campbell’s favorite dish is the Oyster Sandwich which consists of sour dough bread, fried oysters, and tartar sauce. The sides consist of potato salad, cole slaw, fries, hushpuppies and corn nuggets. The sauces include homemade cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, creole mustard, ranch, homemade boom boom sauce, homemade garlic butter, and a homemade hot sauce blend.
