FROM DALE BAIN
MILLBROOK, ALABAMA
Some years ago, there was a US Army Decal that I saw on numerous retiree automobile bumpers. It was round and had these words – Retired, Soldier for Life. Since January 2020 I have not seen this sticker one time. I wonder why?
When things (mandated unconstitutional arm jabs, allowing non-deployable trans-gender personnel to enlist, pushing equity instead of equality, planning female conscription, prioritizing race instead of accomplishment) things really began to change in the institution that I spent 38 wonderful years with.
In discussions with numerous retired Army soldiers, both enlisted and officer; no one had any support to give in recruiting new soldiers. We all agreed that the US Army as we knew it would not last long.
That prophecy came true today – (Headline) ARMY HIKES BONUSES TO $50,000 TO BOOST RECRUITING. WASHINGTON (AP).
The U.S. Army, for the first time is offering a maximum enlistment bonus of $50,000 to highly skilled recruits for six years. Until now, the Army has offered a maximum bonus of $40,000.
One number that I also heard on the current news media said that the US Army had 40,000 non-deployable soldiers presently serving.
One recruiter said she hears a lot of questions and worries about stability.
In other words, if the United States had to deploy a winning force, do we have the soldiers necessary for that? Recruiting has been so dangerous, that last fall, the Army significantly increased the option to enlist for two years, and some will be able to choose where they will initially be assigned.
In 2018, the Army failed to meet its annual recruiting goal. I guess money does not always TALK!!
Changes must be made immediately in order to get our soldier numbers back up to ever face a Russian mob or a Chinese horde. PS – I once recruited on the South Side of Chicago.
