Montgomery Man Jailed, Has Warrants for Charges Related to stolen Property in Millbrook

FROM CHIEF P.K. JOHNSON

MILLBROOK POLICE DEPARTMENT

On December 9, 2021, Millbrook police responded to the 2400 block of Cobbs Ford Road, with regard to a theft of equipment from a business. The complainant advised officers that someone, using a rental van, removed two pieces of equipment from the property overnight. Surveillance video revealed that a Penske rental van, which was later discovered to have been reported as stolen in Montgomery, was used to commit the theft.

The suspect vehicle was later recovered by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, who notified detectives from the Millbrook Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit. Responding detectives were able to identify and recover the property stolen on December 9, 2021, as well as property reported as stolen to the Prattville Police Department. Detectives were able to identify a suspect in this case, Frank A. Turner, a 34 year-old Montgomery resident, who was incarcerated in the Montgomery County Jail on unrelated felony charges. Warrants were obtained for Turner’s arrest.

On January 11, 2022, Turner was released from the Montgomery County Jail, at which time he was extradited to the Millbrook Police Department on outstanding warrants. Turner was placed under arrest, being charged with Theft of Property 1st Degree and Receiving Stolen Property 1st Degree. Turner was processed and transported to the Elmore County Jail, where he was placed in custody under a $15,000.00 bond.

I am extremely proud of the work that our detectives did in this case, as well as the outstanding working relationship that we enjoy with the law enforcement agencies in the River Region. Cases like this get solved when our investigators work together, usually in multiple jurisdictions. Criminals don’t have jurisdictions. Criminals need to figure out that our reach doesn’t end at the borders of our cities or a county line. All the law enforcement agencies in this area work together daily to identify and apprehend the people that commit these crimes. We appreciate the assistance of both the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Prattville Police Department in this case.

As for the offender in this case, he doesn’t need to be overly excited about making bond on his current charges. Once he makes bond on his felony charges, we’ve got another Failure to Appear warrant to serve on him for outstanding charges in our Municipal Court. Apparently he’s not learned to avoid our city when committing criminal offenses.
