Central Alabama Community College Celebrates Ribbon Cutting at New Location

CACC held their official ribbon cutting on Monday hosted by The Prattville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Previously located in Pratt Mills shopping Center they have made their way to their permanent location at 1320 Old Ridge Road in Prattville. The site was previously East Memorial Christian Academy.

It was a packed house which included city, county and state officials. 

Some of those officials included Alabama State Senator Clyde Chambliss, Alabama Community College System Chancellor Jimmy Baker, City of Prattville, Alabama Government Mayor Bill Gillespie, Jr., Autauga County Alabama Commission Chairman Jay Thompson, Council President Pro Tempore Lora Lee Boone and Prattville Chamber Board Member Joe Turner and more.

“It’s a very important day in Prattville. This is a way for the work force to prepare and plan for its future. It’s about our families and the future of our businesses. So today is very important,” said Mayor Bill Gillespie.

Prattville Chamber President Patty VanderWal welcomed several speakers and opened with how important this college will be to Prattville and the surrounding communities.

 “It will open so many doors for local students, teachers, the community and the work force of tomorrow,” said VanderWal. 

CACC programs will include nursing, business, technology, medical assistants, administrative services, cosmetology, welding, agriculture, education and criminal justice just to name a few. They also have certification courses in child development.

CACC offers help with financial aid and scholarship programs. 

Their athletic program currently includes baseball, golf, softball and tennis.

Senator Clyde Chambliss said, “Good things come to those who wait.” 

“We are so grateful to those who have worked so hard to make this happen. It’s taken tremendous effort and dedication on the part of many. Our community needed this program and today is only the beginning to the wonderful things ahead,” Said Senator Chambliss.
