Autauga County Schools will Switch to Virtual Thursday and Friday, Elmore County School Update

By Heather Knight

Autauga County Superintendent Tim Tidmore made the difficult decision today to move Autauga County schools to virtual only for Thursday and Friday.

“Because of the rise in covid numbers, almost hourly, and the inadequate staffing due to covid I have decided to switch to virtual for Thursday and Friday in hopes that we can help reduce those numbers,” said Tidmore.

Autauga County schools are observing Martin Luther King Jr day on Monday, so that is also helpful in giving the employees and students time to recover.

Elmore County schools have also seen a huge rise in numbers.

According to Richard Dennis Superintendent of Elmore County the rise in numbers has also caused staffing issues for Elmore County schools.

Dennis will continue to be attentive to the numbers and take each individual school into account when making the decision to continue to stay open or to go virtual.

Elmore Auatuga News will continue to monitor the situation and keep you all informed.
