Two Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on I-65 Near Hayneville in Lowndes County

MONTGOMERY POST – A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, has claimed the life of a man and a juvenile both of Jonesboro, Ga. Jose L. Badillo, 50, and the 16-year-old juvenile were both fatally injured when the 2006 GMC Sierra driven by another 17-year-old juvenile of Waco, Texas, struck the rear end of the 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by Arthur K. Williams, 64, of Mobile, which was parked on shoulder of the roadway at the time of the crash. Both Jose L. Badillo and the 16-year-old juvenile were passengers in the Sierra and were not utilizing their seat belts and were pronounced deceased at the scene. The 17-year-old juvenile was transported from the scene to a local area hospital for medical treatment. The crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 150 mile marker, approximately five miles east of Hayneville, in Lowndes County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
