On December 11th, 360 children, parents and grandparents attended the Christmas on the Coosa Character Breakfast in Wetumpka, Alabama that was split into two sessions for 7:30 a.m. and the 9:30 a.m time slots. All other Christmas on the Coosa activities planned for December 11th were moved out to different dates due to weather concerns but the character breakfast was still on.
Families enjoyed meeting 39 different characters, taking a free picture with Santa, as well as a very scrumptious breakfast.
This was the 12th year for the character breakfast in Wetumpka. Last year due to COVID-19 pandemic, the character breakfast unfortunately was canceled. But it was back this year bigger and better officials said.
The families loved seeing the characters interact with their children and capturing the moment with their cameras. One family in particular was the Sprayberry Family. “This is our first time coming to this event and our daughter really enjoyed it. We are so glad we came.”
The Wetumpka High Theatre Guild, the Wetumpka High School Cross Country Team, Soccer Team, and Student Government Association all graciously stepped in to help with this event.
Chrietzberg Photography, owned by Barry and Patty Chrietzberg, did the free pictures with Santa for each of the families and printed them, too. The pictures were sponsored by Wetumpka Pharmacy.
Cheryl Freeman, owner of The Party Planner, brought many characters to the event. She has owned The Party Planner business since 1996.
Jeff Glass, theatre director for the Wetumpka High Theatre Guild , brought characters to the event as well. Food was provided by the Potz and Pans Gourmet Catering sponsored by Wind Creek Casino. Six Christmas on the Coosa queens came out for the breakfast session as well.
“The character breakfast is one of the most anticipated Christmas on the Coosa events. We had such a great time that morning at both sessions. Free pictures with Santa, food and of course some of the most popular characters, princesses and heroes. This event would not be possible without our gracious sponsors: Wind Creek Casino, Wetumpka Pharmacy, Chrietzberg Photography, Signs in Seconds and Publications Plus. Special thanks to Potz and Pans Gourmet Catering, the Wetumpka High School’s Cross Country Team, Student Government Association and Soccer Team. Lastly, we’d like to thank Party Planners and the Wetumpka High School Theatre Guild for putting on such a great show,” said Valencia Johnson who was in charge of this event. Johnson works for the City of Wetumpka and handles all of the special events that takes place in Wetumpka.
