The City of Millbrook has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) to install energy-efficient lighting upgrades at two of its municipal facilities. The grant will be used to replace the existing fluorescent lighting in the Millbrook Civic Center with highly energy-efficient LED lights, and to retrofit the campus of the City of Millbrook Sewer Treatment Facility from fluorescent/incandescent combinations to LED fixtures.  The City’s matching contribution is $14,365

Mayor Al Kelley on receiving the news said, “I am very proud of our efforts in securing this grant.  The City is always looking for opportunities to increase efficiency and cut costs so that the savings can be passed on to our citizens in more positive ways.  This grant will allow us to upgrade the existing lighting at two of our highly utilized facilities to LED, which will not only provide bright, vibrant and consistent lighting, but equate into significant electricity savings to the City.”

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs is administering the grants from funds allocated by the U.S. Department of Energy as part of the State Energy Program.
