ELMORE/AUTAUGA NEWS
For everyone at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Millbrook, those prayers for good weather were answered Saturday. The Annual and popular Angel Fest event is a primary fundraiser for the Episcopalian church, and it allows parishioners to bestow donations to area agencies, schools and more throughout the year.
The morning broke a little gray and dreary, but the clouds parted, the sun shone brightly and the crowds arrived. Cooler temperatures were a welcome relief and parking was at a premium. , The vendors seemed occupied, chatting and bagging up purchases, answering questions, and handing out business cards. The smell of Boston Butts and boiled peanuts wafted across the church grounds. A Bagpipe player strolled through the crowd with beautiful music.
Inside, the bake sale was seeing great sales, with just about every imaginable “goodie” up for grabs. Some were stocking up for the upcoming holidays, to lessen the load of baking for their special meals. Tips on how to freeze the cakes and pies were offered.
Father Mark Waldo wondered through the property, a good word for everyone he saw and plenty of visiting.
There was a silent auction with dozens of gift bags and offerings, and plenty of bids as well. As for the annual Butt Sale, the team had ordered 25 additional Butts this year, but all were spoken for early in the day.
Honey, wreaths, clothing, stained glass, jewelry and more were up for grabs from vendors both local and from across the state.
Take a look at the photos from the day and tag those you recognize.
Thank you to all who planned, worked, organized and made the day profitable and special. Those funds raised Saturday will be filtered back into the community as part of the church’s Mission.
