GEN. JOHN ARCHER ELMORE CHAPTER OF THE SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION (SAR)
At 10 A.M., Saturday , October 23, 2021, the Gen. John Archer Elmore Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) will host a ceremony honoring Revolutionary War veteran Walter Filmore Ross, Sr. (1761-1848) by installing a memorial marker at his grave in Elmore County, Alabama.
The ceremony will feature a presentation of colors by the SAR State Color Guard and a musket tribute presented by the SAR State Honor Guard (all dressed in Revolutionary War period uniforms). The ceremony will be held in the Ross Family Cemetery near Deatsville, Alabama.
A family descendant, David Garner, will present the biography of his ancestor.
The public is invited to see this colorful and dignified tribute to one of America’s first veterans.
Directions: North of Millbrook on Deatsville Highway (Co. Rd. 7) approximately 2.3 miles begin looking for Ross Road on the left. Turn left and look for SAR signs that lead to the cemetery approximately .4 miles from Deatsville Hwy. The cemetery will be on the left.
