The City of Prattville is pleased to partner with the Montgomery Area Musicians Association again this year for a free Songwriting Seminar on Sunday, October 24. This seminar will be facilitated by nationally recognized songwriter from Prattville, Billy McDowell.

McDowell has written songs across multiple genres, including Christian, rock, pop, blues, jazz and Americana/folk, with an emphasis on contemporary country. Water to Whiskey, a song he co-wrote with Robert Abernathy and is performed by Abernathy, has climbed to #1 on the charts on Music Mafia Radio, one of the internet’s largest radio stations of independent music. McDowell is a member of Nashville Songwriters Association International and is listed among the “Ones to Watch.” He is a BMI songwriter and is a member of the Montgomery Area Musicians Association.

This seminar is free and open to the public and will cover a variety of topics from why to write songs to how to get songs recorded and played on the radio. The seminar will cover information about the music business and resources to help writers not only with their writing, but also with their quest to break into the music business. The seminar will be held at the Prattville Way Off Broadway Theatre in the Cultural Arts Building from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on October 24.

If you are a songwriter and need help with your songs or with getting your songs out into the public or if you are new to songwriting and need pointers from a professional, this seminar is sure to be of interest to you.
