Owner of The Sweet Carte, Ingrid Graves, began her baking career baking cakes for family members and friends. Serving those she knows and loves closest to her. In 2016 she began spreading her services locally and opened her brick-and-mortar location on Main Street in Millbrook.
From wedding cakes, events, and showers, The Sweet Carte is a made-to-order baking enterprise specializing in cakes and various desserts for all occasions. More than 95 percent of their business is custom orders, but they do provide a variety of premade cakes during the holiday season.
Ingrid Graves joined the Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce in 2016 because she wanted to take advantage of the networking opportunity with other local businesses in Millbrook.
In 2020 Ingrid became the first African American Board member for the Millbrook Chamber.
“I am able to help move the Chamber forward by giving a more diverse perspective from a business standpoint and to also help other minority business owners feel more comfortable about our Chamber. It helps to know that all city businesses can be recognized and are supported,” said Graves.
“It has been a passion of mine for many years, and I was so glad when my dream came to fruition,” said Graves.
Millbrook has been home to Ingrid and her three children for more than 20 years. She has a love and passion for the community and loves serving the community her delicious cakes.
It has become a family business. Her daughter Amani helps her when she needs the extra hand.
Along with cakes The Sweet Carte also provides cupcakes, cookies, cheesecakes, brownies, dessert bars, fruit displays and other dessert varieties. The cost of each cake will depend on the size, type of cake, topping and décor choices and delivery.
When asked about her goals Graves says, “The overall goal of The Sweet Carte is to become a thriving company with a loyal and ever-growing client base. The Sweet Carte will always strive to provide great desserts that wow customers visually with creativity in decor, as well as delicious homemade tastes that will keep clients coming back and spreading our name as the “go-to” bakery for all occasions.”
All Customized desserts are made-to-order and require at least 10-day advance notice and non-refundable deposit. Wedding and large event cakes have a two-month notice requirement.
Limited variety of desserts available for purchase on weekends.
