Covid Numbers Decreasing for Elmore Schools; Supt. Warns about TikTok Challenge

FROM RICHARD DENNIS

SUPERINTENDENT OF ELMORE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

COVID-19 numbers have decreased again this week with 8 employees and 64 students having reported tested positive.  Please continue taking precautions as necessary and encourage your student to try and maintain social distancing as much as possible to reduce the possibility of quarantine due to direct contact with a positive COVID case.  To date, 2,130 students have been quarantined due to direct contact with a positive case of COVID.  We are working with principals and school nurses in an attempt to social distance students to reduce these numbers as much as possible.

Parents be aware of a new trend that is starting to occur on TikTok where students are stealing random items and vandalizing school property and then posting on TikTok.  In most cases the students have TikTok accounts other than those approved by the parent.  We are dealing with numerous situations across the county which result in discipline actions and restitution for the damages.  Attached is a link that will provide information on this TikTok challenge.

Finally, if you would prefer to get my call outs and other system-wide communications texted to you through Remind, visit the Elmore County Public Schools website and follow the registration process.

We appreciate your support and have a great weekend!
