Daniel Farris, Principal of Prattville High School, announced that Taylor Gloystein is a semifinalist in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program. Taylor is one of approximately 15,000 semifinalists in the 67th Annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
This academically talented high school senior has an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 Nation Merit Scholarships worth $30,000,000 that will be offered next spring. To be considered for the National Merit Scholarship, semifinalist must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of competition. About 90% of the semifinalist are expected to obtain Finalist standing, and more than the half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship.
Taylor is the goalie for the Prattville High School Lady Lions Soccer Team and a six-year letterman. She has played soccer for 12 years. She is also very active at school – she is President of Science Olympiad, President of the Junior Civitans and a member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Students.
Taylor is a very strong student and scored a 1560 on the SAT with a perfect score on the math section. She also has a 35 on the ACT. She is looking at schools like Baylor, Clemson and Auburn. She spent time this summer at a Biomedical Engineering Camp at Clemson where she sutured pig hearts. She plans to major in Biomedical Engineering and minor in mathematics. She wants to be a trauma surgeon.
