Students at Millbrook Middle School and Stanhope Elmore High School will dismiss early today due to a power outage. The BOE is contacting bus drivers, and students will be dismissed after lunch.
Elmore County Supt. Richard Dennis told the EAN that a high voltage power line was on the ground behind the old gym. Alabama Power has notified the school it will take several hours to repair.
“We are going to release students early. We are going to feed them lunch first, over the next hour and a half. But then they will be dismissed for the day,” Dennis said.
Millbrook Fire Department personnel were on scene earlier, but have turned it over to Alabama Power for repairs.
